Adult Basketball Official

SUMMARY:   The City of Fruita Parks & Recreation Department is seeking applicants for Sports Officials for the Adult Basketball League. The official is responsible for referring events of all levels of competition. This position is under the supervision of the Athletic Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects/rules of basketball and previous experience officiating basketball games.
• Prefer applicants who are IAABO certified and have experience officiating recreation adult basketball leagues, high school basketball, or other similar levels of basketball.
• CPR/First Aid Certification is required within 6 months of hire.
• Candidates must be able to handle stressful situations in a tactful manner and communicate effectively and courteously.
• Will have the ability to make proper calls on command and the ability to accept criticism
• The ideal candidate will maintain a positive attitude and provide a fun, friendly environment
• Applicants must be available to work on Tuesday evenings from 6pm-10pm.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old to apply.
• Applicants must also be able to start this position by May 13th, 2025
• Applicants must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation as this position will work with youth and other vulnerable populations.
