Iowa Western is currently seeking Part-Time Group Fitness Instructors to join our exciting, student-focused team at our beautiful SW Campus, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The Group Fitness Instructor will report to the Director of the Wellness Center and will teach a variety of classes currently offered within the employee and student fitness programs. Instructors are responsible for developing individual lesson plans, being familiar with various styles of class formats offered, supervising class participants, and leading instructional sessions. All Student Services staff members must have the ability to excel in team and individual settings, multi-task, problem solve, manage their time, and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and faculty while thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Teaching Group Fitness classes at the Dr. John and Jean Marshall Wellness Center. Formats can include, but are not limited to, Cycling, Yoga , Pilates, Zumba, Les Mills Body Pump, and Hip-Hop Fitness.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and be able to use a phone for music. Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- A High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- It is required to have 1-3 years of experience in group fitness instruction, experience and knowledge of fitness training and education methods and techniques in the area of specialty.
- Candidate should have relevant experience that demonstrates a commitment to delivering first-rate customer service, and experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disabled backgrounds of community college students.
- Preferred qualifications include having a professional instructor certification related to field of expertise or the commitment to obtain professional certifications within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to pass a background check.
