Position: Recreation Specialist
The Recreation Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of recreation activities and programming appropriate for the client population.
The Schwartz Assessment Shelter is a shelter for men operating 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Clients are referred to the program by the New York City Department of Homeless Services. To learn more about the program, copy and paste this link into a browser

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree and one year of relevant experience with a similar populations or high school diploma or GED with at least two years relevant experience.
Recreation Specialist Principal Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, publicize, implement, and facilitate support groups, recreational activities, special events and holiday programs. Update and post printed materials and encourage client participation.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new programs aimed at enhancing clients motivation through socialization and the development of leisure time skills.
- Coordinate programs with case managers in order to facilitate success of In-Reach sessions.
- Develop contacts with various sources for off-site activities.
- Assist in preparing and submitting written and statistical reports.
- Provide aftercare to assigned clients who have been placed / discharged from the facility.
