This is medium to heavy manual labor involving skilled work in various maintenance and construction tasks requiring the use of tools, equipment and the operation of medium to light automotive equipment. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Director.
Regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. However, hours may vary during different sports seasons which will result in some evenings and weekends depending on game schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience: Graduation from a standard high school (or GED) required and one (1) year experience in grounds maintenance work preferred or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Requirements:
Valid Florida driver license.
Certification in CPR and first aid must be received within six months of employment.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Considerable knowledge of the tools and equipment used in general maintenance work.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to laboring work.
Ability to operate light truck, tractors, and small automotive equipment.
Ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor.
Ability to communicate information and ideas so others understand in English;
Ability to follow directives with minimum supervision.
Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of observer).
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
Ability to deal with the public tactfully and diplomatically.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
