We are actively seeking a Waterfront Lifeguard to help oversee our swimming activities in the club lake.
Camp Lifeguard Qualities
- Ability to guard the health and well-being of campers while in or around the lake at all times
- Responsible, Dependable, Level-Headed, Flexible, and Calm in all situations
- Current certification in lifeguard training or equivalent
- Current certification in first aid and CPR (advanced certification may be required based on camp location and site of delivery of aquatic program)
- Prior experience working with children
- Prior experience in Lifeguarding and/or Swim related instruction, preferred
Camp Lifeguard Responsibilities
- Supervise and guard all swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed
- Assist Camp Director/Staff with any aquatics related responsibilities as needed included but not limited to camper swim assessments
- Warn swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforce aquatics regulations and water safety policies
- Direct swimmers out of the lake in hazardous conditions
- Provide rescues as needed
- Administer first aid in the event of injury, rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administer CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary
- Evaluate conditions and monitor weather reports for safety and initiate aquatics emergency action plan as required
- Inspect facilities, equipment, and water as well as maintain a clean environment in and around the lake area to ensure that they are safe and useable
- Complete other duties, as assigned
All applicants must have up to date Lifeguard Certifications, with the Waterfront Add-On Module, prior to starting work.
Our camp is located at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA. Camp will run Monday-Friday from June 8 through July 31 - staff members must be available to work the full camp season. This lifeguard position has a working schedule of 10 - 15 hours per week or can be paired with a more consistent Camp Counselor role.
