Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of a Recreation Specialist and Program Coordinator, the Recreation Leader II will develop and lead recreation programs for summer camp / afterschool participants. Oversees Recreational Leader I, opens/closes facilities, manages money, records registration, and performs daily office tasks. This is a seasonal position. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays and help in other divisions as needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers, program participants and staffRotates and moves around to supervise children in a variety of settings including indoor, outdoor with possible exposure to inclement weather conditionsDevelops, leads, and supervises at assigned recreation programs/activities. after school sites, summer camp sites, recreation centers, rental facilities, and events for participants of all agesLeads and supervises assigned Recreation Leader I teamDevelops and implements lesson plans for children ages 5-13 in areas of recreation, adventure, education, and enrichmentProvides exceptional service without exception; effectively communicates with children, parents, co-workers, and other City employeesReceives money, records registration, and membership informationPerforms facility attendant duties for recreation centers and rental facilitiesOversees inventory and property managementPerforms daily tasks to include cleaning, answering phones, and general office related tasksMaintains essential records, prepares reports as required; to include but not limited to participation reports, usage reports, accident reports, and work ordersFollows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of three years of high schoolEquivalent of one summer season of working in childcare environment (one school year for Zone, one summer season for summer camps)
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year experience working with children
