River Park North Summer Camp Counselors

The Greenville Recreation and Parks Department is currently recruiting River Park North Summer Camp Counselors to provide daily guidance for 10-12 campers. This position would lead the group through daily outdoor/nature experiences and other duties as assigned. Previous experience in a summer camp setting is helpful.
All staff are expected to attend mandatory training before camp starts
This is a continuous posting and may close at any time River Park North Summer Camp Counselors will lead each of the following age groups: Junior Explorers - 6 weeks
Minimum Age: 18 years old, as of May 12, 2026
Pay Rate : $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Hours: Vary by camp age group
Camps run from June 15 to July 31, 2026. There is no camp on June 19 and July 3All staff are expected to attend mandatory training before camp starts

- Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
- 4 to 7 year old's
- Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday
- 7 to 9 year old's
- Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday
- Counselors for this age group will also stay overnight each Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. the next morning.
- 10 to 13 year old's
- Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday
- Counselors for this age group will also stay overnight each Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. the next morning.
- 8 to 13 year old's
- Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday
- Counselors for this age group will also stay overnight on the Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. the next morning.
- Previous experience interacting with children or teens (paid or volunteer), such as in a school, camp, daycare, or recreational setting.
- Camping, boating, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and nature games experience.
- Must have basic knowledge of area wildlife.
- Must not be afraid of or apprehensive about handling snakes, turtles, and other small forms of fauna.

- maintain effective and courteous working relationships with campers, parents, employees, community organization partners, and the general public.
- understand and abide by Greenville Recreation and Parks Department policies and procedures.
- understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must possess a valid driver's license issued by N.C. or another state.
- Valid CPR and First Aid/AED certifications are required prior to the start of camp.
