Maintains an alert attitude and posture at all times;
Maintains a professional image at all times and remains mentally, physically and emotionally prepared to respond at all times;
Maintains patron safety through preventative lifeguarding and provides emergency first aid when necessary;
Enforces pool rules consistently and courteously;
Provides accurate information to patrons;
Follows the Emergency Action Plan, but has the ability to adjust to the situation;
Reports all accidents, rescues, and incidents and has thorough knowledge of Emergency Action Plans;
Attends and participates in all scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings;
Responsible for the protection and care of pool property and equipment;
Responsible for being aware of and enforcing all City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts policies and guidelines;
Carries out any assigned responsibilities relating to the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department as directed by the Coordinator, Supervisor or designee;
Regular and predictable attendance required.
Candidates must be 15 years of age. Must possess water safety, customer-service and conflict resolution skills. Must demonstrate maturity and good decision making. Must be able to verbally communicate to the public and handle facility and patron emergencies and altercations in an effective way. Must be personable and willing to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff members, volunteers and the general public.Must hold current Lifeguard certification that includes CPR/AED and First Aid training. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
