Position Summary
The Director of Personal Training is responsible for leading and growing all aspects of personal training and small group training at the Newtown Athletic Club. This role drives revenue, develops high-performing staff, and delivers a best-in-class fitness experience aligned with a luxury health club environment. The Director will oversee sales, programming, staff development, and cross-department integration while staying at the forefront of health, wellness, and performance trends.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue & Sales Leadership
Own and drive all personal training and small group training revenue goals
Develop and execute sales strategies, promotions, and membership conversion systems
Track KPIs including session utilization, trainer productivity, retention, and revenue per member
Collaborate with membership and other departments to maximize onboarding and upsell opportunities
Program Development & Innovation
Build and evolve personal training and small group training offerings to align with member needs and industry trends
Introduce cutting-edge training methodologies, recovery modalities, and wellness services
Ensure programming reflects a premium, results-driven experience
Staff Leadership & Development
Recruit, hire, train, and onboard top-tier personal training staff
Create a culture of accountability, professionalism, and high performance
Provide ongoing education, mentorship, and performance evaluations
Establish clear career pathways and compensation structures for trainers
Operations & Administration
Oversee scheduling, payroll, and trainer productivity systems
Maintain accurate reporting on sales, sessions, and financial performance
Ensure all systems, processes, and client experiences run efficiently and at a high standard
Member Experience & Engagement
Ensure exceptional client results and service delivery
Host and oversee fitness, health, and educational events for members
Build strong relationships with members to increase retention and lifetime value
Cross-Department Integration
Collaborate with performance institute, group fitness, longevity/optimization services, and membership teams
Create seamless pathways for members between training, recovery, nutrition, and other services
Support club-wide initiatives and contribute to overall club growth
Position RequirementsQualifications
5+ years of experience in personal training leadership or fitness management
Proven track record of driving revenue and managing high-performing teams
Strong sales, communication, and leadership skills
Deep knowledge of fitness, strength & conditioning, and wellness trends
Experience in a luxury or high-end fitness environment preferred
Relevant certifications (NASM, NSCA, ACSM, etc.) required
Compensation
Base Salary: $80,000 $100,000
Performance-Based Bonuses: Significant upside tied to revenue growth, team performance, and key business metrics
