Full-time Head Golf Professional opportunity at Capital Canyon Club in Prescott, Arizona. This role supports a hospitality-focused golf property and leads the golf operation across daily play, tournaments, player development, retail, administration, and financial performance.

  • Maintain PGA of America membership in good standing in an active classification.
  • Actively pursue PGA membership in a timely manner through the PGA Professional Golf Management program if a PGA Apprentice.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, Rules of Golf, golf facility operations, and tournament operations.
  • Knowledge of fundamental supervisory practices and principles.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to promote and market programs and services.
  • Service- and customer-focused attitude.
  • Experience in written and oral business communications.
  • Ability to remain up to date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, along with email, internet, tournament, and database applications.
  • Ability to maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.
  • Ability to attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to stay current on marketing and business trends.
  • Ability to maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations.
  • Oversee reservation systems, starting, monitoring, and pace of play.
  • Track and verify players, guests, fees, golf cars, club care, lockers, handicap fees, and related charges while facilitating accurate accounting and recordkeeping.
  • Oversee golf car fleet maintenance and records.
  • Develop and manage tournament programs, group outings, and leagues.
  • Oversee practice facility operations and provide club repair and fitting services.
  • Ensure proper storage, safety, and cleaning of golf equipment.
  • Administer the Rules of Golf and educate staff and membership.
  • Develop, maintain, update, and use the customer database.
  • Oversee golf retail merchandising, purchasing, inventory controls, and golf shop presentation.
  • Supervise and train golf shop staff to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Develop and oversee golf instruction and player development programs for all levels, including women, families, seniors, and juniors.
  • Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and supervise golf department staff and maintain payroll records.
  • Ensure staff evaluations and annual reviews are completed.
  • Maintain golf shop policies, procedures, job descriptions, and safety standards.
  • Support newsletters and promotional materials and use PGA PerformanceTrak information to position the facility.
  • Oversee the golf handicap program and work with golf committees, board, and management as needed.
  • Manage financial and operational performance of golf shop operations and golf services.
  • Assist with budgets, forecasting, and review of golf operations revenues and expenses.
  • Ensure controls are in place to safeguard assets, revenues, and resources.
  • Work closely with department heads, the Golf Course Superintendent, Membership Sales Director, and Food and Beverage Manager to achieve facility goals.
