Lifeguard (multiple positions)

Lifeguard (multiple positions) Hendrix College is seeking multiple part-time, support staff Lifeguards. Reporting to the Director of Aquatics, the Lifeguard is r esponsible for guarding lives and ensuring the safety of the patrons using the pool. Provide excellent customer service to members and guests using a friendly, professional demeanor. Have a full understanding of pool rules, guidelines and policies and enforce them strictly and equally for all patrons. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lock and unlock aquatic center doors performing opening and closing protocol.
• Adjust roof and patio doors according to the weather.
• Responsible for opening safe and counting & recording the money in the money bag.
• Responsible for vacuuming out pool and cleaning bags.
• Ensure that guests without membership have signed a waiver.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 17 years old.
• Must be able to perform the following: Swim 300 yards continuously using the breast or front crawl; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds, starting in the water, swim 20 yards; surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object; return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point; exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
• Must be Red Cross Lifeguard Certified.
• Must have CPR/AED certification.

EDUCATION: Red Cross Lifeguard certification. CPR/AED certification. EXPERIENCE: Six months experience preferred but not required. SKILLS: Leadership Skills Communication and people skills Problem Solving Endurance Saving a persons life with rescue equipment Saving a persons life without rescue equipment Consideration of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
