Community Services - Aquatic Center: Lifeguard

Age - 15 and older

Prerequisites

A Deep/Shallow Water Lifeguard must be Red Cross Lifeguard Certified and able to:

1. To swim 300 yards

2. Surface dive into 7 to 10 feet of water to retrieve a 10-pound object

3. Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs

Reports To

Aquatics Center Supervisor

Position Type

A variety of positions are available including: Part-Time, Seasonal and Year Round.

Description

Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility

Able to act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency

Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services

Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service

Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled

Maintains a clean facility performing house cleaning duties

All other duties as assigned and appropriate

Qualifications

15 years of age and older

Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm

Ability to positively interact with co-workers and the general public

Punctual, responsible and self-motivated

Red Cross Lifeguard Certification* (required)

Schedule and Location

Shifts vary Monday through Sunday at the New Prague Aquatic Center's indoor facility.

Training

Lifeguard and WSI training is available multiple times each year at the New Prague Aquatic Center. Inquire about upcoming classes.
