Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard)

About the position: This position will be assigned to the Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Fort Smith, Arkansas - Outdoor Recreation Pool.

Some physical exertion is required while performing a swimming rescue. Must be able to lift 50lbs and over.

This position requires the incumbent to hold, or be able to obtain, American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR certifications or a nationally recognized equivalent.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must be at least 16 years of age. Applicant must have successfully completed a nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training from the American Red Cross or similar recognized agency. Limited knowledge of swimming facility rules, work procedures, equipment and materials to perform standing and recurring tasks as needed. Ability to communicate effectively, orally.Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
