This position works collaboratively with the Marching Band Director, Assistant Director, and student leadership to develop engaging choreography and polished dance performances integrated into the marching bands halftime shows. Key Responsibilities Provide instruction for halftime dance students during: Summer band camp Afterschool rehearsals Football games and parades Teach and reinforce technique in: Dance fundamentals and movement quality Timing, coordination, and performance presence Ensemble consistency and field awareness Create, teach, and refine dance choreography that enhances and complements the marching bands halftime show. Lead and support student recruitment and retention by promoting the marching band program, collaborating with school staff, and engaging prospective students and families. Collaborate with the directing staff to ensure visual and musical components align effectively. Support the development of student leadership within the halftime dance ensemble. Assist with rehearsal preparation and organization, including: Collaborating with student leaders Documenting choreography as needed Preparing dancers for rehearsals and performances Assist with management and care of dance related equipment and props. Coordinate half-time dance uniform fitting and distribution. Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment for all students. Time Commitment Approximately 200-225 hours of work from June through November Approximately 10 additional hours per year assisting with costume management, choreography preparation, and rehearsal support Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching or performing dance in a marching band, halftime show, pom, or similar performance setting Strong background in choreography, movement instruction, and performance technique Ability to work collaboratively as part of a directing staff Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills Passion for mentoring and inspiring high school performers Stipend: $8,000
