Aquatics Supervisors are responsible for the care and safety all guests and employees in the park. Supervisors will oversee the day-to-day operation in their assigned areas, assist with training of Aquatics staff, as well as assist with administrative duties. Supervisors will provide direction and guidance to Aquatics Leads, as well as the lifeguards on duty.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Supervisory Du t ies:

• Supervise t he daily opera t ions of t he Aqua t ics t eam and any o t her assigned depar t men t s

• Lead by example, a t t i t ude, and as a represen t a t ion of Adven t ureland s core values

• Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned Lifeguard s

• Become knowledgeable of performing t he essen t ial du t ies of all aqua t ics and lifeguarding posi t ions and backfill t hese posi t ions when needed

• Par t icipa t e in all aspec t s of supervision of assigned employees, including hiring, orien t a t ion , t raining, performance coaching, and discipline.

• Ensure lifeguard ro t a t ions are wi t hin t he Ellis and Associa t es s t andards

• Ensure lifeguards are exceeding t he Ellis and Associa t es s t andards

• Ensure t ha t all required meal and o t her breaks are being given in accordance wi t h Iowa law

• Assis t wi t h t eam scheduling and t imekeeping ac t ivi t ies

Depar t men t al Du t ies:

• Deligh t all gues t s by quickly and exper t ly providing cour t eous assis t ance t o address t heir ques t ions or concerns.

• S t ay aler t when assigned t o swimming areas t o ensure gues t safe t y.

• Oversee daily morning checks for wa t er a t t rac t ions and wa t erslide t es t ing

• Oversee daily pool cleanings, t ube field t es t ing, and in-service classes for assigned t eam

• Provide bathroom breaks for all Lifeguard s, as needed

• Render first-aid (within scope of knowledge) to injured guests or Lifeguard s

• Handle opera t ion-rela t ed gues t concerns and assis t wi t h los t children

• Escala t e major gues t concerns t o managemen t or main t enance t eam in a t imely manner

• Main t ain cons t an t vigilance and proac t ively iden t ify po t en t ial hazards inform Park leadership and/or main t enance t eam of any such si t ua t ions in a t imely manner

• Ensure t ha t all Park areas are clean and free of hazards, prior t o daily opening

• Reac t in a calm and professional manner during emergency si t ua t ions

• Assis t wi t h crowd con t rol in emergency si t ua t ions

• Ensure pre-opening and closing check lists are done by Aquatics Lifeguard s

• Upda t e and ensure proper Zone Coverage and Zone Valida t ions are done for each spo t in t he park

• All o t her du t ies assigned by leadership

Educa t ion and Experience:

• No educa t ion requiremen t s for t his posi t ion

• 1-2 years of previous lifeguard experience desired

• Mus t successfully comple t e t he Ellis & Associa t es Lifeguard T raining Program before becoming a lifeguard a t Adven t ureland . All Lifeguard candida t es will be required t o ob t ain t he Ellis Lifeguard Cer t ifica t ion ins t ruc t ional handbook and pass all c er t ifica t ion requiremen t s. (Swim 200 yards doing fron t crawl or breas t s t roke Re t rieve 10-lb brick from 6 f t of wa t er and t read wa t er wi t hou t hands for 2 minu t es)

Language: Abili t y t o read, wri t e, and speak fluen t English Spanish or o t her bilingual language skills are a plus.

Requiremen t s:

• Mus t be a t leas t 18 years of age t o comply wi t h Iowa Child Labor Laws

• Abili t y t o work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Mus t be willing and able t o work wi t h a vas t ly diverse s t aff of lifeguards, including bo t h American and In t erna t ional s t uden t s

• Abili t y t o comply wi t h all uniform policies

• Abili t y t o a t t end 4 hours of in-service t raining per mon t h

• Abili t y t o t ake con t rol of emergency and in t ense si t ua t ions while remaining calm

• Abili t y t o manage crowd con t rol during emergency si t ua t ions

• Mus t demons t ra t e a willingness t o learn and abili t y t o follow ins t ruc t ions

• Must be guest-focused and work well with other Lifeguard s and supervisors

• Abili t y t o work independen t ly wi t h minimal supervision
