The First Assistant Golf Professional will play an integral leadership role within the golf operation, gaining valuable experience in tournament administration, merchandising, instruction, junior golf development, member relations, and daily club operations.

As a member of the Professional Staff leadership team, the First Assistant Golf Professional is expected to exemplify excellence in personal presentation, attitude, service industry knowledge, professionalism, and member and guest hospitality. Success in this role is defined by a commitment to delivering exceptional service experiences while upholding the highest standards of club representation, leadership, and operational excellence each day.
Performance will be evaluated based on the ability to effectively support daily golf operations, foster positive relationships with members and staff, communicate professionally, and contribute to a collaborative, service-focused culture. The following areas will serve as key components of the formal performance evaluation at the conclusion of the golf season:
- Engage the members and their guests when they walk into the golf shop.
- Greet members and their guests in appropriate and always prompt manner.

The First Assistant Golf Professional will play an integral leadership role within the golf operation and will be responsible for the successful execution of the following duties and responsibilities in support of the Club’s service standards, daily operations, and overall member experience:
- Oversee the entire golf operation in the absence of the Head Professional.
- Spread hospitality, goodwill among all members and guests.
- Conduct and facilitate member golf events through knowledge and proficiency related to various recourses, e.g., USGA Rules of Golf/Handicapping, Golf Genius, etc.
- Provide qualified professional golf instruction in both individual and group clinic settings.
- Manage and oversee the development of the Junior golf program.
- Play with our members as requested when opportunities are present.
- Continue to work on individual golf skill sets to improve playing and teaching knowledge.
- Assist in making sure the golf shop is maintained in a neat and clean manner daily.
- Assist in creating the budget and handling budget variances per the Director of Golf’s directions
- Assist in the monthly inventory.
- Coordinate the receiving and pricing of merchandise with the Professional Staff.
- Assist in managing all hard goods purchases to include the facilitation of developed Open to Buy plans & budgets, staff agreements, balls, gloves, clubs and miscellaneous.
- Ensure the daily, weekly and monthly procedures are being followed.
- Attend all Professional Staff meetings.
- Oversee Professional Staff scheduling to assure proper performance.
- Possess a thorough understanding of overall golf operations.
- Ensure that all golf shop supplies and all reports are maintained correctly.
- Perform any and all duties requested by Board, General Manager and Director of Golf.
