Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities Operations and Championships is responsible for the development, implementation, supervision, and direction of all activities and personnel with designated athletic facilities. General duties include developing and monitoring the annual budget, long-term capital improvement projects, and overall philosophy of operation, scheduling of activities and programs, and matters related to building personnel. This position directly supervises student employees and classified staff positions.

Essential Functions

Provide leadership and direction for the ongoing operation assigned facilities, both short and long term. Develop and implement general operational philosophies and policies. Keeping in mind the objectives of the BGSU athletics; maximize the use of the facility with fairness among user groups; demonstrating fiscal responsibility in terms of both revenue and expenditures; and be cognizant of potential liability issues

Develop and implement the annual budget for assigned facilities. Closely monitor revenue and expenditures as the year progresses. Establish annual fee structure for a variety of activities and programs

Collaborate on implementation and management of major rental groups, small groups and individuals

Coordinate effective usage and scheduling of facilities using software scheduling solutions

Actively seek partnership opportunities with external clients and campus partners for hosting a variety of events including but not limited to concerts, trade shows, family shows, meetings, and sports events.

Coordinate planning and assessment for all building sponsored programs Supervise BGSU game management in assigned facilities which includes officials, Emergency personnel (Police, EMT), ushers, ticket takers and post game cleaning crew (volunteers), working with Athletic Communications on Media related issue, and Sports Marketing and Brand Enhancement for game day special activities

In conjunction with Building Maintenance staff and campus operations, coordinate plans and time lines for all preventive maintenance for facilities equipment, custodial operations, repairs and improvements, and ensuring that plans are carried out by appropriate staff

Prioritize and plan capital improvement, including coordination with Athletics leadership, Capital Planning, Design and Construction, and Development.

Provide leadership for recruitment, selection, supervision and evaluation for student staff and classified staff employees

Promotes athletics to the campus through appropriate support of cross department activities

Attend conference and trade associations meetings

Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated experience in athletic facilities and program management Experience working with student programming Experience working with student employees Oral and written communication skills Commitment to customer service and experience in conflict management General knowledge of facility management, scheduling, and risk management General knowledge of marketing concepts and techniques A broad command of and the ability to quickly adapt to new, computer application skills NCAA/Conference affiliation rules and procedures Knowledge of building services Knowledge of various technology as it relates to timing, lighting, and audio systems Strong financial and budgeting skills Knowledge managing complex events ranging for intercollegiate athletic contests, concerts, and trade shows

The following Degree is required:

  • Bachelor's Degree

The following Experience is required:

  • 2 years experience in athletic facility operations of a DI, DII, or DIII institution
  • 2 years experience in supervision
