About the Opportunity
Chelsea Piers Connecticut is home to premier youth birthday parties, hosting more than 1,000 celebrations each year. For many families, a birthday party is their first experience with Chelsea Piers Connecticut, making this role an important ambassador for our brand and guest experience. This exciting position focuses on growing our birthday party business while delivering exceptional, memorable experiences for our guests and their families.
The Birthday Party & Events Coordinator will play a key role in driving birthday party sales and ensuring a seamless guest experience from initial inquiry through event execution. This position is ideal for an organized, energetic, and customer-focused individual with strong communication, sales, and event coordination skills who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Status: Full-Time; Exempt
Schedule: Sunday Thursday, 9:00am 6:00pm; Schedule may vary based on business needs
Compensation: $45,000 per year
Primary Responsibilities
Sell and coordinate birthday parties via phone, email, and in person
Provide outstanding customer service throughout the booking, planning, and event execution process
Manage day-of event operations, including room setup, cleanliness, staffing coordination, guest arrival, and overall event flow
Build and maintain strong relationships with party guests, families, and clients to enhance the Chelsea Piers experience and encourage repeat business
Support administrative and operational needs related to birthday parties with direction from the Parties Manager
Maintain and distribute weekly party and event schedules to department leaders and staff
Coordinate catering requests and communicate directly with food vendors and hospitality partners
Confirm event details, guest counts, timelines, and customer preferences prior to each event
Enter and maintain accurate customer and event information within internal database systems
Assist with customer inquiries, data entry, and front-facing guest service responsibilities
Monitor and manage inventory for party supplies, decorations, and event favors
Coordinate staffing needs and scheduling for birthday parties
Process party and event transactions accurately and efficiently
Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown as needed
Help create a fun, welcoming, safe, and memorable experience for all guests and families
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
Bachelors degree preferred
Strong customer service, sales, and relationship-building skills
Energetic, proactive, and team-oriented with a strong work ethic
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Professional, polished, and courteous demeanor at all times
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
Comfortable working in a dynamic, guest-facing environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Prior experience in sales, hospitality, customer service, events, or recreation is a plus
Flexible schedule with the ability to work one weekend day per week, and evenings as needed
