Requirements

Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification

Knowledge of the fundamentals of coaching, various sports, and health and safety regulations

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents and school personnel

Position Summary and Goal

Provides leadership to the school/district in coordinating all athletic events and works to instill positive self-concepts and sportsmanship among students.

Superintendent, Principal

Students, Coaches

Performance Responsibilities

  • Assists the principal in the general management and smooth operation of all athletic events for the school.
  • Assists the principal in the assigning of coaching staff, in scheduling athletic events, and in arranging for necessary transportation.
  • Assists the principal in the evaluation of coaching staff.
  • Coordinates, conducts, and monitors progress and completion of coaches’ training and maintains related training records.
  • Maintains records relating to Title IX and complies with all policies related to such.
  • Acts as the purchasing agent for all athletic equipment and supplies for the school.
  • Prepares a budget for the athletic program.
  • Prepares and files contracts for athletic events scheduled.
  • Secures officials for events when they are not scheduled by the assigning secretary.
  • Assumes responsibility for supervision for home athletic events.
  • Supervises the overall charge of storage, maintenance, and inventory of athletic equipment, lockers, and dressing rooms.
  • Arranges for additional staff to assist in events, including timers, scorers, and any other personnel as needed.
  • Maintains charge of parking arrangements for athletic events.
  • Assumes responsibility of managerial duties relating to tournaments as assigned by the principal.
  • Performs any other such duties as designated by the Superintendent.
