ANNOUNCEMENT OF EXTRA-CURRICULAR PROFESSIONAL VACANCY
POSITION: Athletic Director
LOCATION: Robert Bland Middle School
QUALIFICATIONS: Posses a valid WV Professional Administration Certificate
Prior experience preferred
DUTIES:
An Athletic Director (AD) is responsible for the overall planning, management, and evaluation of a school's athletic programs and coaches, under the supervision of the school principal.
Administration and organization: Organizes and manages all facets of the athletic program for Robert Bland Middle School.
Compliance: Ensures each program follows all rules and regulations set by the county, the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission (WVSSAC), and all federal and state guidelines, including Title IX.
Eligibility: Administers and verifies the academic and physical eligibility of all student-athletes and ensures medical and insurance requirements are met.
Scheduling: Arranges the schedule for all athletic events, including contests, practices, and facility usage, and coordinates with visiting teams. Work with local officials boards to provide certified officials for each home contest.
Transportation: Schedule transportation for teams traveling to away (or off site) games & practices as needed.
Events: Oversees the administration of all home games and attend athletic events.
Staff and facility management
Coaching supervision: Manages and evaluates head and assistant coaches.
Recruitment: Assists in the selection and hiring of athletic coaches.
Facilities and equipment: Oversees the use, maintenance, and safety of all athletic facilities, fields, and equipment.
Equipment inventory: Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all athletic equipment and supplies. Works with coaches to order uniforms, practice gear, equipment, supplies, etc..as needed.
Financial and logistical responsibilities
Budget management: Prepares and oversees the athletic budget, including requisitioning necessary equipment and supplies.
Fundraising and ticket sales: Supervises ticket sales and all fundraising activities for the athletic program. Reconciles all moneyboxes after each home event.
Game personnel: Hires game officials and other necessary staff for home events, included but not limited to ticket takers, security and medical personnel.
Record-keeping: Maintains proper records as required by the WVSSAC and keeps track of contest results. Maintain team scores/game outcomes as mandated on the WVSSAC website.
Communiation and community relations
Liaison: Serves as a liaison between the school, coaches, student-athletes, parents, and booster organizations.
Public relations: Promotes positive public relations for the school's athletic program and works with media for event publicity.
Public engagement: Attends district, regional, and state athletic meetings as required.
SALARY: $10,000
TERM: 2026-2027 school year
