GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide comprehensive swim instruction and lessons on water safety and developing proficient swimming skills for babies to adults.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Teaching swimming skills: Instructing students on basic to advanced swimming techniques, including floating, kicking, arm strokes, breathing, and coordination. Lessons are tailored to each age group and skill levels.
Communication Skills; excellent verbal communication skills
Willingness and ability to take initiative - Be a team player, must work well with others
- Water Safety Education: Educating students on essential water safety practices such as how to recognize hazards, and what to do in emergency situations
- Adapt teaching methods to tailor the individuals, needs, abilities, and learning styles.
- Creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment that fosters confidence, self-esteem, and trust in the water
- Communicating effectively with parents or guardians to keep them informed about their childs progress, goals, and areas for improvement
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of students by maintaining constant supervision, enforcing pool rules, and responding promptly to any emergencies or concerns
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS : Must be able to work weekends and holidays/ Mornings and Nights. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : There is no prior experience required to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be Starfish Aquatics Certified .
LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to; sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. They are required to be able to swim, tread water, and be able to help students swim proficiently.
