Responsible for teaching swimming lessons, swim team, and lifeguarding. Responsible for the safety and health of all patrons and enforcement of all facility and agency regulations and policies; assist in overseeing lifeguard staff, pool operations, safety and facility cleanliness. Must possess and maintain a current American Red Cross Certifications and the Water Safety Instructor Certification is required for this position as Lifeguard II will be expected to teach swim Lessons & Coach Swim team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to swim a minimum of 300 yards using front crawl and breaststroke. Must be able to surface dive to a depth of between nine and thirteen feet of water to retrieve a ten-pound brick and exit the pool unassisted without using the ladder. Must be able to respond in an emergency at any time. Current Lifeguard Certification. Current CPR for lifeguards or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer certification. Current First Aid Certification. Job offer for Lifeguard position will be contingent upon satisfactory performance of skills/knowledge of lifeguard material. First Aid Certification (Required).

Skills: Must have good oral communication skills. Interpersonal skills are necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and customers while performing duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Functions:Provides lifeguarding, life safety support, and customer service. Maintains concentrated observation of swimmers in duty area to anticipate problems.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Must be able to lift no less than 30 pounds

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors; however, time is spent outside (approximately 10 % to 20% of the time) exposed to temperatures, extremes, dirt, dust, noise, etc.

Additional Information: Selected applicants must pass background investigation, physical examination, and drug screen. The work period of 20 hours per week is flexible but is expected to be mostly completed Mon, Tues, and Wed sometime during the hours between 7AM and 6PM.
