Summer Camp Counselor Monarch Academy Annapolis - Annapolis, MD 21401 Apply Overview Salary Range $15.00 - $15.00 Hourly Position Type Seasonal Job Shift Day Education Level Not Specified Apply Description Position Overview The Children's Guild's Monarch Academy Annapolis program is seeking enthusiastic high school students to join our summer basketball camp program as Basketball Camp Counselors. This is a temporary, seasonal position that provides valuable experience working with youth in a structured athletic and recreational setting. The ideal candidate is energetic, responsible, has an interest in basketball, and enjoys engaging with school-aged children. Key Responsibilities Assist lead coaches in implementing daily basketball drills, skill-building exercises, and camp activities Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety at all times Prepare and organize equipment and materials for drills, games, and camp activities Assist with snack and lunch breaks, ensuring proper hygiene practices Help with gym and court setup, cleanup, and equipment organization Help monitor campers during rest and water breaks Assist with escorting campers to and from different activity areas Support campers with basic needs (e.g., first aid awareness, hydration, bathroom breaks) Build positive relationships with campers and help foster a fun, inclusive environment Participate in daily staff meetings and weekly planning sessions Document and communicate any concerns about campers to the lead coach or principal Assist with parent drop-off and pick-up procedures Qualifications Qualifications Must be a high school student (rising sophomore, junior, or senior) Interest in or experience with basketball preferred but not required Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions Responsible, reliable, and punctual Enthusiastic and positive attitude Ability to work well in a team environment High energy level and stamina for active days Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding children and families Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, sit, and interact with children for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Comfort with outdoor activities in various weather conditions Required Documentation Background check and CPS clearance Valid work permit if under age 18 Proof of eligibility to work in the United States Benefits Valuable work experience in youth athletics and recreation Mentorship from experienced coaches and educators Share job details to
