Position: Senior Recreation Program Leader - Lancaster Community Center

Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services

Hourly Range: $22.26- $25.77

Classification: Temporary

Non-Exempt - Overtime Eligible

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and conducts recreational activities or specialized programs at various locations, including parks, the community center, and large facilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May oversee Recreation Program Leaders

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Conducts activities at the Lancaster Community Center, in the community, or other voluntary recreation facilities.

Modifies programs to meet the needs of individual agencies or institutions.

Plans community events and recreational activities.

Assists with scheduling staff and setting up for community events.

Assists students at the community center with programs, games, activities, and snack times.

Responsible for games and excursions during day camp.

Arranges chairs, tables, and sporting or exercise equipment in designated rooms or other areas for weekly programs and classes, group activities, group meetings, or events.

Welcomes visitors, processes transactions, and answers incoming phone calls.

Assists with training Recreation Program Leaders or other personnel assisting with programs.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to organize, plan, direct, and lead a group of children or adults.

Write reports and evaluations.

Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.

Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Recreation or a related field is desirable.
