New Canaan High School is seeking a dedicated, highly qualified Certified Athletic Trainer for a 10-month contract position. The successful candidate will be responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries within our comprehensive interscholastic sports program. This position requires an individual who thrives in a dynamic environment, possesses excellent clinical skills, and maintains a student-centered approach to care.

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Primary Responsibilities
Injury Prevention & Clinical Care
Provide complete athletic training coverage for assigned high school athletic practices, home contests, and away events as designated by the Athletic Director.
Evaluate, manage, and administer immediate first aid and emergency care for acute athletic injuries.
Evaluate, assess, and assist in the prevention of athletic injuries and illness among student-atheltes.
Develop and supervise comprehensive rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes to ensure a safe return to play.
Administration & Communication
Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date electronic medical records of all athlete injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress.
Act as the primary liaison between student-athletes, parents, coaching staffs, team physicians, and the Athletic Director regarding injury status and medical clearances.
Oversee the organization, inventory, and sterilization of the athletic training facility and medical supplies.
Implement and enforce school and state-mandated concussion management protocols and return-to-learn/return-to-play guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training from an CAATE-accredited program.
Certification: Board of Certification (BOC) certified Athletic Trainer in good standing.
Licensure: Current or eligible for Athletic Trainer Licensure from the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
Emergency Care: Current Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification (e.g., CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers or BLS Healthcare Provider).
Skills: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations.
Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and Saturdays, with some travel required based on the seasonal athletic schedule.
