Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Fitness Coordinator, a Group Exercise Instructor (Aqua, Zumba, Cycle, etc) is primarily responsible for planning and implementing Group Exercise Classes.
Essential Duties

- Plan and instruct Group Exercise Classes based on format, level and class description as detailed in the published group exercise schedule
- Educate class participants on correct form and alternative moves during the fitness routine
- Represent the Joliet Park District as an ambassador of health and wellness in the community
- Promote the Inwood Athletic Club group fitness program and its instructor team
- Other duties as assigned
Hours
Part time position with hours scheduled by the Fitness Coordinator based on the Group Exercise Schedule. Classes are scheduled 7 days per week and could include evenings and holidays. Schedule could change quarterly. Fitness Coordinator works with instructor team to determine format based on fitness trends and instructor availability when developing the ongoing schedule. Must be willing and able to sub when necessary.

Work environment
Employee’s general work area indoors is a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting. Employee may be exposed to noise distractions from employees, participants, or equipment operation in adjacent work areas.

Education and Experience
- Must hold current nationally recognized Group Exercise and/or Personal Training Certification and any necessary specific format certification (Zumba, Aqua, Cycle, etc.) and/or college degree in Exercise Science or fitness related field.
- Certifications in multiple formats preferred
Additional eligibility requirements
- Current CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
