About the Role:

Frenchman’s Creek Beach & Country Club is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead the Club’s accounting function. This is not a traditional Controller role—it is a high-impact leadership position requiring both operational excellence and the ability to strengthen processes, systems, and team performance in an elite private club environment.

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will oversee the monthly close, financial reporting, and accounting team while serving as a key partner to department leaders across the Club.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Financial Close : Own and drive the monthly close process, ensuring timely, accurate financial statements and reporting.
  • Manage & Develop the Team: Supervise and mentor accounting staff (Assistant Controller, Payroll, AR/AP), establishing accountability and high-performance standards.
  • Partner Across the Club: Work closely with department leaders to review results, analyze variances, and enforce financial discipline and accountability.
  • Strengthen Systems & Processes : Improve and standardize workflows, processes, internal controls, and reporting.
  • Support Planning & Cash Management : Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and capital tracking.
  • Audit & Compliance : Lead the annual audit and 401(k) audit processes and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.

What We Are Looking For

  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience
  • Prior private club experience is essential.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a complex, high-volume environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to manage a team.
  • Clear thinker with a goal-oriented mindset
  • Organized and able to prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Jonas GL and POS experience is a strong plus.
  • CPA preferred
