The Middle School Head Cheerleading Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and educational-based wrestling program that promotes skill development, discipline, character, and sportsmanship. The coach will create a safe, structured, and positive environment that supports the physical, emotional, and social growth of middle school student-athletes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program LeadershipPlan, organize, and supervise all practices and competitions.
Develop age-appropriate training plans emphasizing fundamental wrestling skills, conditioning, and match strategy.
Establish and enforce team rules, expectations, and standards of conduct.
Promote discipline, respect, accountability, and sportsmanship.
Teach proper technique, mat awareness, and safe wrestling fundamentals.
Emphasize injury prevention, proper warm-ups, and safe weight management practices.
Provide individual instruction and constructive feedback.
Encourage academic success and personal responsibility.
Ensure a safe practice and competition environment at all times.
Adhere to school, district, and state athletic association policies.
Follow all regulations regarding weight classes and weigh-ins.
Maintain current certifications (CPR/First Aid, concussion training, any required state certifications).
Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after all practices and events.
Prepare athletes for meets and tournaments.
Coordinate match lineups and communicate with officials and opposing teams.
Organize transportation and supervision plans in collaboration with administration.
Maintain proper care, inventory, and storage of equipment and uniforms.
Maintain open communication with athletes, parents/guardians, and school administration.
Communicate schedules, expectations, and program updates clearly.
Address concerns professionally and in alignment with school policy.
Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote overall athletic program goals.
Assist with team selection and roster management consistent with school philosophy.
Monitor athlete eligibility and attendance requirements.
Attend coaches’ meetings and required professional development sessions.
Support program growth and feeder development where applicable.
