Reports to: High School Athletic Director

Employment Status: Part-time, Stipend

General Duty Statement

The Middle School Athletic Director is responsible for the administration, operation and quality of the 7-8 athletic program. He/she reports directly to the High School Athletic Director and works cooperatively with the members of the administrative council in order to provide and appropriate continuum of services.

The Successful candidate with have demonstrated experience in a majority of the following areas:

• Athletic administration at the college, high school, and/or middle school level
• Student development through teaching and/or coaching roles
• Direct management of employees
• Budget and finance accountability, fundraising oversight
• Community relations
• Schedule all MS athletic events and practices.
• Reschedule any weather affected games.
• Schedule and arrange transportation for MS athletic competitions.
• Ensure that MS athletic facilities are in order and playable.
• Formally evaluate MS Coaches.
• Assist in the hiring of new middle school coaches.
• Attend MS games, meets and contests including away games.
• Serve as site supervisor for some varsity athletic contests.
• Promote MS athletics to MS and Elementary school students and parents.
• Promote athletics through news releases and ghathletics.org
• Manage the equipment and apparel purchasing and distribution process for MS teams.
• Work with the athletic secretary to ensure all required paperwork is completed prior to student participation.
• Monitor student eligibility for MS student-athletes.
• Ensure that all coaches and volunteers are properly credentialed per school and ODE requirements.
• Attend MSL league meetings and other OHSAA sponsored educational meetings.
• Assist in the scheduling of events in MS athletic facilities.
• Field and respond to questions from parents and community related to MS athletics.
• Serve as a site supervisor for MSL MS conference tournament games.
