Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, organizes and conducts specialized recreation programs for the community.
Will work closely with the Recreation Supervisor to plan and implement all senior programs, events, sponsorships, and trips. This position will work out of the Duarte Senior Center. Hours of availability for this position are from 8:30AM - 4:00PM and some weekends depending on the event schedule and will work up to 20 hours per week. Hours worked per fiscal year may not exceed 1,000 hours. Work schedule is flexible. DutiesThe following tasks are essential for this position. Assists and participates in the planning, organization, supervision and evaluation of specialized recreation programs, sports programs and special events.
Assists with program registration operation, inputs data, and analyzes program data to develop statistical program information.
Assists with the policy enforcement and scheduling operations for field and facility uses and rental allocations.
Assists with communication between community services program participants and community professional and non-profit partners and the City.
Promotes participation to community groups and schools at scheduled activities.
Assists with the preparation and maintenance of a variety of records and reports.
Assists with promotion, organization and conducting youth excursions and specialized excursion camps.
Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, organizes and coordinates a nutrition and healthy activity program including training and assigning of volunteer teen and adult staff.
Assists with coordinating with PIO to prepare news releases and public service announcements for department classes, programs, and services.
Prepares and distributes promotional materials for department classes, programs, and services.
Performs other related duties as required.

Successfully adapt in a high-volume, fast-paced working atmosphere with multiple activities.
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities could be considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be at least two years of progressively responsible part-time recreation program involvement and current enrollment in a college or university with a focus on related studies.
May be required to have valid California driver's license.
