Athletic Trainer Jobs in Illinois
An Athletic Trainer in the fitness and recreation industry is a certified health professional who collaborates with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. They work closely with athletes, coaches, and fitness enthusiasts to prevent and treat sports-related injuries, provide first aid, and develop and implement injury prevention and rehabilitation programs. Athletic Trainers work in a variety of settings within the fitness and recreation industry, including health clubs, recreational sports centers, schools, and universities.
Important skills for an Athletic Trainer include strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, as well as a thorough understanding of human anatomy and physiology. Certification is often required; the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC) is the nationally recognized certifying body. Prior to becoming an Athletic Trainer, individuals may have roles such as a Fitness Instructor, Physical Therapy Assistant, or Sports Medicine Aid. All these roles provide valuable experience in the physical fitness and healthcare fields that can serve as a foundation for a career as an Athletic Trainer.
