Sports and Recreation General Manager Jobs in South Carolina
A Sports and Recreation General Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of a sports or fitness facility. These include managing staff, developing and implementing budgets, maintaining the facility, planning programs and activities, ensuring customer satisfaction, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. They play a crucial role in the success of the facility by creating a welcoming and safe environment for members, promoting health and fitness, and ensuring the business runs effectively and efficiently.
The role requires a combination of business acumen, people management skills, and a passion for health and fitness. A bachelor's degree in sports management, business administration, or a related field is typically required. Certifications such as Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Sports Management Professional (CSMP) may be beneficial. Prior to becoming a General Manager, an individual may have roles such as a Recreation Coordinator, Fitness Center Manager, or Sports Facility Manager. These roles provide experience in the operational aspects of a facility, as well as staff management and customer service.
