The Litchfield Country Club (the Club) is seeking a Director of Golf (the Golf Pro) starting with the 2026 season. The club is focused on finding a golf professional for the 2026 season, and as a result, is open to both a short term solution and long term partnership based on the candidate.

The Golf Pro will be responsible for creating a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere around the golf course. The Head Golf Professional will oversee all golf-related operations, ensuring an exceptional experience for members and guests. He or she will provide exceptional service and quality merchandise in the operation of the golf shop. This individual needs to be an energetic leader who can maintain the traditions of our 130-year-old 9-hole club in historic Litchfield, CT while modernizing our programing and instruction.

The Golf Pro will report to the Golf Chair, who is a member of the Clubs Board of Governors.

  • Experience 3 + years as a Head Pro or an assistant professional at a private club. College
    degree preferred.
  • Technology Proficient in Golf Genius, GHIN, and POS systems. Demonstrate the ability
    to use office technology and applications related to the successful operation and
    management of golf activities.
  • Administrative Strong budgetary and operational management skills with experience
    in recruiting, hiring, and training.
  • Personality Polished, approachable, and highly organized with a no task to small to
    do mindset. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with all members.
  • Member Experience Provide a concierge-level presence at the first tee and around
    the club. Provide a high level of consistent, energetic and proactive service to all
    members and guests. Act as the primary point of contact for all golf inquiries.
  • Staff Leadership Recruit, train and mentor a small high-performing team to enhance
    the overall member experience.
  • Junior Golf Program - The Club offers a 9-10 week childrens program every year from
    mid-June to mid-August for kids aged 4-12+. The program, which encompasses golf, tennis, and swimming, is a cornerstone of our member experience and involves a significant
    proportion of the membership. It is imperative that the Golf Pro and the Assistants
    provide a safe, fun, and educational experience focused on rules, etiquette and skills
    development across the age group.
  • Tournament Management Organize and execute a full calendar of member events,
    from causal Nine & Dine to various annual events, including Mens and Womens
    Member-Guests and Club Championships.
  • Retail & Pro Shop Operations Create and manage a high-end pro shop inventory.
    Handle club fittings, equipment repairs, and merchandising that reflects the Litchfield
    aesthetics. Given the time of year, we are willing to work with the Golf Pro with a
    flexible approach to determine the best possible offering for 2026.
  • Instruction & Player Development Lead a robust instructional program, including
    private and group lessons. Develop and be involved in building, promoting, and
    maintaining multiple categories of golfing programs, juniors, seniors, womens,
    beginners, etc, and work hard to expand the number of golfers. It is the Golf Pros
    responsibility to foster compliance with the Clubs rulebook and with the rules of the
    game.
  • Member Engagement Regularly engage with members to foster relationships and encourage members to play in tournaments and events.
  • Team Player Be helpful and available to fellow management team members and the
    Board.
  • Greens & Carts Work closely with the Greens Committee and the Superintendent in
    presenting the best possible golf course to enhance the golf experience for members
    and guests. This also entails ensuring the maintenance and clean appearance of our cart
    fleet.
  • Administrative Attend all Golf Committee meetings and assist the committee and the
    club with tournament program development, supervision, handicap monitoring, and all
    other areas the committee requires. Provide timely reports and budget variance to the
    committee monthly. Provide the Club with the necessary records regarding
    pro shop sales to facilitate prompt payment. Work with the committee and treasurer on
    developing the annual golf budget. Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws regarding
    safety, health, and employment regulations.
  • Appearance Maintain high standards in appearance and actions of self and team at all
    times.
